Official recommends rerun in Amazon union fight

A rerun has been suggested by an authority investigating a historic Amazon union election in Bessemer, Alabama.

The officer from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) was investigating the validity of the vote in April. Amazon appears to have thwarted the formation of a union, winning a two-to-one vote on the subject.

The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU), on the other hand, said that Amazon had put its employees under undue pressure.

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has the authority to order a rerun.

"Amazon's behavior throughout the election process was disgusting," stated Stuart Appelbaum, President of the RWDSU. "Amazon cheated, they were detected, and they will face consequences."

Employees were allegedly encouraged to slip votes into a mailbox that was visible to Amazon cameras, according to the union.

Amazon was said to be attempting to give the impression of monitoring.

The post box was erected, according to Amazon, to make voting easier for employees. Amazon stated that it will file an appeal.

"During a loud period when all kinds of voices were weighing into the national debate, our workers had an opportunity to be heard, and at the end of the day, they voted decisively in favor of a direct link with their managers and the firm," Amazon said in a statement. President Biden, as well as celebrities like Danny Glover, have expressed support for the unionization drive.
